Soon-Young Yoon
Soon-Young Yoon is chair of the board of the Women’s Environment and Development Organization and author of Citizen of the World—Soon-Young and the UN. She served on the Gender Equality Council convened by H.E. Ambassador Abdulla Shahid, president of the 76th United Nations General Assembly. As chair of NGO CSW/NY, the committee launched the Cities for CEDAW campaign of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. She was a social development officer for UNICEF in Southeast Asia and is co-editor of the World Health Organization monograph Gender, Women and the Tobacco Epidemic.
