Tijjani Muhammad-Bande

As Nigeria’s ambassador to the United Nations since 2016, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande was vice-president of the General Assembly in 2017 and has chaired the United Nations Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations, served on the advisory board of the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre and chaired ECOWAS. He was the director general of Le Centre Africain de Formation et de Recherche Administratives pour le Dèveloppement in Morocco. Between 2004 and 2009, he served as vice chancellor of Usman Danfodio University before being appointed director general of Nigeria’s National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, a position he held from 2010 to 2016.
