Keizo Takemi

Keizo Takemi Keizo Takemi is a member of the House of Councillors of the Japanese Diet, and a member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. He is also the World Health Organization’s Goodwill Ambassador for Universal Health Coverage. Senator Takemi was a research fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health and has played several important roles at the United Nations, including as a member of the High Level Panel on UN System-Wide Coherence in Areas of Development, Humanitarian Assistance and Environment (appointed by Kofi Annan) and the UN High Level Commission on Health Employment and Economic Growth (appointed by Ban Ki-moon). He also served as Japan’s senior vice minister for health, labour and welfare and as the state secretary for foreign affairs.
